Here are a few simple tips that will help you get the data you want.
Virtually all fields are optional. When searching for production, for example, you do not need to add dates or lease names unless you are searching specifically for that information.
Try to avoid over specifying a search. For example, if you are searching for permits and have a well API, you do not need to enter a lease name or depth. Because lease names can vary in spelling, adding a lease name may result in no matches.
Search inputs that utilize names (like lease names, field names, etc.) have special matching rules. In general, searching for a name searches for anything that begins with that name. So, for example, searching for a lease name like: A. B. Tully would match A. B. Tully et al and A. B. Tully et. al. Also, the search is exact. For example, searching for a lease name like: A. B. Tully would not match A B Tully because the periods are missing. (Note – Try using the wildcard character, the percentage sign ‘%’, before the text string to match names that contain the string.)
If you specify an API number, you do not need to specify a date or date range.
If you are getting truncation warnings, see Truncation for more information.
