Searching by Abstract or Section

Most searches allow search by Abstract in Texas or Section Township Range in other states.

Abstracts

You can enter one or more abstract numbers separated by comma. Occasionally, an abstract is a number plus a letter, like 10d.  If you do not know the abstract number but know the Texas Section/Block, you can look it up using the Lookup Tx Abstract from Section/Block link on the start of the search wizard.

Section Township Range

You can enter a township and range but no section to get all sections in that township. You can also specify a specific meridian or leave it as ANY.   For Section, township, or range, you can enter a value or a range of values.  A range of sections is separated by a dash "-".   So, to search for sections 5 through 10, enter 5-10.  A range of townships from 5S through 2N would be 5S-2N.  A range of ranges would be 7E - 2E.  When

entering a range of townships, specify the South-most one first.  When entering a range of ranges, specify the west-most one first.  Sections are a number like 1 or possibly a fraction like 1.5 or 1 1/2 .  Townships and Ranges are can also be fractions.  Keep in mind that a township can occur in more that one place in a state if there are multiple meridians.  LA, for example, has multiple meridians.  For reference, a meridian map is available.
