Abstract/Section

Create an Area of Interest (AOI) that monitors activity based upon the abstract or section of your choosing. Through this method, you can stay informed of activity for a particular well, keep track of permits, leasing, and completions for a particular well, be notified by email and have the information recorded in your AOI.

First, give your AOI a descriptive name in the Description box.

Then, choose the State in which you want to monitor. When choosing a state other than Texas, the form will refresh to offer the correct items associated with that state.

For Texas:

Select a County and type the Abstract. If you do not know the abstract number but know the Texas section/block, you can look it up using the Lookup Tx Abstract from Section/Block link from the Search Wizard homepage.

For All Other States:

Select a County/Parish and type the Section, Township, and Range.

Select the Search Area. Choose a certain mileage within the abstract or section to monitor.

Once you select the state, abstract or section and search area, choose the Initial Search Period, Items to Monitor and Notification (if you want email). Your email address is indicated next to the Notification option. Make sure this is the email address you want information sent to. If you want to have information sent to another email address, click the Change my email link, type in the email address and click the Update button.

Once you have defined your AOI by abstract or section, click the Finish button and your AOI will be saved in Your Areas of Interest table.
