Using MyInfo

MyInfo is a suite of tools that turns your Drillinginfo account into your own, flexible geological/engineering/land/well workstation.  Currently, the data you input into your MyInfo system remains available only within your account.  Shortly, you will have the option to share your data with DI members within and outside your company at your discretion.

Data can be added to points (soon, polygons), which are either Drillinginfo well spots OR User Defined Points, which can be anything with a surface location, such as a seismic shot point, a geochemical sample point, a geological strike and dip location, a compressor station, or anything else you can think of. Once a User Defined Point is created, it joins well spots as a Taggable Element.

When you add data to existing well spots or User Defined Points, you are Tagging that point.

Multiple user points can be created and tagged simultaneously (such as a seismic time horizon, a geochemical survey, and more) via a spreadsheet using the MyInfo Upload tool found in the MyDI section of the site.

Confused?  Let’s run through some nomenclature:

Tag Constraints &endash; Allow you to search for points that only contain data or some subset of your data when performing a search.   The Tag Constraint box is found in the search wizards and will be discussed in the ”Getting Data Out” portion of this chapter.

Tagging - The act of adding your own data to a taggable element or updating a previously tagged element. Taggable elements can be tagged on the map view using the Tag Element tool found in the DI map interface; via one of the many Tag Element links found in the various data summary pages in wellbore detail pages; or multiple elements can be tagged simultaneously using the MyInfo Upload Tool found in the MyDi section of the site.  Methods for tagging will be discussed in the ”Getting Data In” portion of this chapter.

Element - Anything that is searchable in the DI database.

Taggable Element - An element in the DI system that is capable of accepting tag data. Current taggable elements are user points & well spots.

Tag - Any combination of a name, category, unit and value that may be added to a Taggable Element in the DI system. (example: Wilcox - Formation Top - Feet - 5447)

Signature - A specific combination of a name, category and unit without value (example: Wilcox - Formation Top - Feet).

Name - Descriptive text entered by the user as part of the signature for a tag. (examples: Top Wilcox, or Compressor)

Category - A word or phrase representing a common data type used in the oilpatch, selected from a dropdown menu as part of the signature for a tag. (examples: Formation Top or  Acid Type)

Unit - A unit of measurement that is commonly used in the oilpatch, selected from a dropdown menu as part of the signature for a tag. (examples: Feet or MCF)

Value - Numeric or textual data entered by the user that represents the actual value for the tag in the unit of measurement specified. (examples: -8756, 25)

Template - A user-created set of name - category - unit combinations (signatures) that may be re-used in order to quickly enter values to taggable elements in the DI system.  The strength of a template is that ALL data elements entered can be searched for under a common name.
