LA Unitization Geology

What are Louisiana Unitization Geology exhibits?

They are geologic and engineering exhibits presented by a company or individual to the LA Office of Conservation (OOC).  Their purpose is to support their request that the OOC create or change a unit.  A unit is a legally defined area (which takes geology into consideration) and determines which wells are in the unit.

This is important because it determines who will participate in the revenue produced by the unit.

NOT ALL WELLS IN LA ARE IN A UNIT - ARE ”UNITIZED” &endash; our exhibits reflect only those wells which belong to a unit or, are requesting to join a unit, or are asking for the creation of a new unit.

Exhibits are typically type logs, well tests, structure maps, fault plane maps, isopach maps, cross sections, reservoir data and unit outlines.
