To access the VirtualSCOUT™, start from the Drillinginfo.com homepage and click the MyDI button at the top of the page. Then click the VirtualSCOUT link from the MyDI homepage.
The VirtualSCOUT allows you to keep track of new events as they happen, automatically get email notifications, keep secure folders of data on the Drillinginfo.com system, comment, annotate, and map different items.
The VirtualSCOUT has three components:
Monitored Element
Monitor Type
Area of Interest (AOI)
A Monitored Element is a type of item, like permits, completions, leases, etc. You can choose one or more Monitored Elements when defining your Area of Interest (AOI). The following are the items currently monitored along with its corresponding abbreviation:
Well Permits (PT)
Leasing or Lease Optioning (LS)
Oil Completions (CO)
Gas Completions (CG)
Minerals for Lease (ML)
Prospect for Sale (PR)
Producing Property for Sale (PS)
A Monitor Type is the way you monitor an item. For example, a radius around a well, a distance from a pipeline, a distance bordering an abstract or township are examples of Monitor Types. The following are the ways in which you can monitor an item:
Well/Permitted Location
Lease Number, Gas ID, or LUW Code
Abstract/Section
County/Parish
Operator
Position
Line/Polygon
An Area of Interest (AOI) is a combination of the Monitor Type and all the Monitored Elements you choose. When creating an AOI, you choose the Monitor Type - for example, five miles around abstract A-123 in Goliad Co, Texas. Then you choose the Monitored Elements - permits, leases, completions, etc. The AOI you define creates a folder in the VirtualSCOUT that holds all the found items.
